Choose the type of connection

Connecting an assistant through MCP lets a compatible AI client call supported Vitae tools. Configuring a model provider for work inside the platform is a different setup. Decide where the person will work and which actions they need before choosing the connection.

• MCP: use supported Vitae tools from a compatible assistant.
• API: build a specific integration against documented endpoints.
• CLI: use supported commands in a controlled script or technical workflow.

Check your account and tool access

Assistant plans and workspace settings can affect which connections are available. Start with the live Vitae connection guide, authenticate to the correct workspace and review the available tools. Your connection should use only the permissions needed for the task.

• Never put access tokens in prompts, shared documents or website code.
• Check the connected identity and workspace before using business records.

Begin with a read-only question

For example: "Summarise the recent activity for this client and list the open tasks." Check the answer against the original records. Once that works, try preparing a follow-up for a person to review. Treat an AI draft as a draft.

• Use a sample record before introducing sensitive client information.
• Confirm the source records and scope of each answer.
• Review updates, messages and external actions before execution.

Separate subscriptions from usage charges

A ChatGPT or Claude subscription does not automatically pay for model-provider API usage. A connected application may also have its own fees and usage limits. Confirm the provider, billing account and cost controls during setup.

• Agree which provider receives which information.
• Review the provider terms for the account you use.
• Revoke connections and credentials when access is no longer needed.

Can my AI do everything in Vitae?

Only actions exposed by the supported tool catalogue and allowed by your authentication and permissions. Connecting an assistant does not grant unrestricted access to every feature or every record.
